Francis Halzen Wins 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics
Belgian-born physicist Francis Halzen of the University of Wisconsin-Madison won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin. The observatory, built into Antarctic ice, detects ghostly cosmic particles that scientists believe offer clues to how the universe evolved.
